Volunteer

Volunteer today for the WAMSO and Minnesota Orchestra. Complete the Volunteer Application, call 612-371-5654 or email wamso@mnorch.org to get started. You may specify interest in a specific volunteer task, or let the Orchestra staff and volunteer leadership find the perfect place for you and your talents. We ask for a time commitment only as large as you wish to make; however, we do ask that we be able to depend on you for that commitment.

A wide variety of opportunities are available in the areas of music education, orchestra support, special events and fundraising. See below for detailed descriptions.

Music Education Opportunities

WAMSO's award-winning music education programs offer many opportunities for volunteers including planning and coordination, marketing, graphic design, mailings, and working directly with children in WAMSO programs.

Adventures in Music (AIM) Previews
Volunteers conduct pre-concert programs for school-aged children and their families prior to the Minnesota Orchestra's Adventures in Music for Families concerts on four Sunday afternoons during the season.

Kinder Konzerts
Trained docents introduce children and adults to instruments, sounds and rhythms through hands-on experimentation in Sound Factories. Kinder Konzerts and Sound Factories will be presented throughout the Twin Cities community and the state.

Listening House
Special guest speakers join guests for dinner and conversation at Listening Houses throughout the year.   Help organize the programs and meet our special guests up close and personal.

Meet the Masters
Volunteers coordinate master classes by world-renowned guest artists on the Orchestra Hall stage.   This program offers a wonderful opportunity to observe an artist and teacher interacting with advanced music students in an informal setting.

WAMSO volunteers organize this annual competition for young musicians.   The Young Artist Competition provides monetary awards as well as the opportunity to play with the Minnesota Orchestra and draws musicians from across the country.
