WAMSO has provided critical support and services for the Minnesota Orchestra for fifty years. WAMSO's award-winning education projects reach audiences of all ages from preschoolers to adults and include all levels of musical expertise from novices to accomplished performers. Many programs target underserved populations: children, families and senior citizens.

Kinder Konzerts Kinder Konzerts are held 48 times during the season for over 6,000 preschoolers. In addition to a concert performed by an ensemble of Minnesota Orchestra musicians of music specifically composed for Kinder Konzerts, trained volunteers guide the children through a hands-on Sound Factory and a tour of Orchestra Hall.

Family Kinder Konzert Day This annual summertime event provides a festive, low-cost family introduction to Orchestra Hall.

Young Artist Competition WAMSOs oldest education program is designed to discover and encourage exceptional young musical talent through a regional competition. The competition's portfolio of awards includes performance opportunities, cash prizes and scholarships totaling around $20,000.

Gear Your Ear® A music listening program for 5th- and 6th-grade students that includes exciting classroom curriculum and teaching tools.

WAMSO's Adventures in Music Previews These interactive workshops are designed to introduce children ages four to eight to musical concepts and enhance the enjoyment of the concert. Eight previews held prior to each of the Minnesota Orchestra's Adventures in Music for Families series, reach approximately 1,300 children and parents.

Meet the Masters Classes for aspiring young musicians of all ages opportunities that give students opportunities to work with and learn from world-renowned artists who are also dedicated teachers.

Listening Houses Held six times per year and featuring guest speakers, WAMSO's adult education program increases interaction between musicians, Minnesota Orchestra staff, music experts and WAMSO members which enhances their enjoyment of the Orchestra's season.
